Balestrand – our homeplace
The beginning
The Grindekatten cattery started with a wish of having kittens. After some time and prayer the wish came true. Our first breeding cat, AT*Feli Dea the Purrfect Coon, a large pale black, silver beauty needed a spouse. It was no coincidence that her future friend and partner became HR*Eccliptic Sioux, a wonderful, cozy red lion-like Maine Coon, called Léon. Our prayers were answered. The kittens are so lovely, Since our cattery started and was registered in NRR /FiFe in August 2014 we have had 10 beautiful litters.
The idea behind this cattery is to have healthy, beautiful, social, and racetypical kittens for sale. Our ambition is to remain a small cattery.
Guidelines
We go by the guidelines of NRR for breeding . For the Maine Coon breed there are essentially two serious disorders: hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and hip dysplasia. We do DNA screening, incl. HCM, sma, pkdef, blood type and ultrasound of heart and X-ray of the hips.
